WPC Flooring / Decking Installation
A complete sequence for installing MELIORA decking boards on residential and commercial sub-structures.
- 01Substructure preparation
Level and drain the substrate. Slope 1.5% away from buildings. Verify the substrate carries the design load before any joist is laid.
- 02Joist spacing
Aluminium or treated joists at ≤ 400 mm centres for residential and ≤ 300 mm for commercial. Reduce span at board ends and around openings.
- 03Hidden clip system
Stainless steel hidden clips lock into the side groove of each board and screw into the joist — no visible fixings on the deck surface.
- 04Board fixing
Start from a fixed edge and work outward. Stagger board ends by at least 300 mm and keep one clip at every joist crossing.
- 05Expansion gaps
Leave 5–10 mm gaps between board ends and at all walls or fixed obstacles to absorb thermal movement.
- 06Finishing edges
Close perimeters with matching aluminium or WPC edge trim. Avoid sealing the deck — airflow underneath is part of the warranty condition.
- 07Maintenance tips
Rinse twice a year with clean water and a soft brush. Avoid abrasive pads and high-pressure jets within 30 cm of the surface.
